Hello book lovers!
During this first month of 2020 I was feeling like reading romance and since I’m a mood reader that’s what I read. However, I also read some fantasy since I can’t be away from that genre much because I miss it and I need it in my life, too.
Anyway, let’s get to the wrap up!
Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson
I really liked it. I can totally understand why so many love this series. I can’t wait to get to the rest of the books in the series. I have to say the last chapters broke my heart and I cried non stop. I seriously couldn’t continue reading a whole sentence without my tears running down my face. Have tissues by your side when you’re almost finishing it.
Jax by Vivian Lux
It was an entertaining book but I really didn’t connect with the characters and I don’t think it is the kind of love story I would like to read again.
Empress of All Seasons by Emiko Jean
This book is very empowering and I loved it for it because this is the kind of book girls should be reading. It is a standalone and I would have liked for it to be a duology at least because the world was very interesting.
The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater
I had this book in my Goodreads TBR for so long and I’m so glad I finally read. It’s a very unique and interesting story. My only problem is that I wish there were more romance, but because I’m a hopeless romantic and also because the romance here seemed a little bit odd since, in my opinion. I still enjoyed the book a lot.
Broken Beautiful Hearts by Kami Garcia
This books was very good. There are some trigger warnings I think you should know about like abusive relationships, drug consumption, a little bit of violence, parents’ death.
Say You’ll Remember Me by Katie McGarry
This book felt like a breath of fresh air. Not because it was something new, but because the romance here is very cute and it left me feeling hopeful and warm inside. It’s a very lovely story, but there are some trigger warnings such as drug and alcohol consumption, violence, abusive relationships, absent parents.
I’m very pleased with these books. Honestly with all the romance I’m reading now, I don’t think I will read much romance in February, unless I’m still in the mood for it, we’ll see.
Are you happy with the books you read in January?
Until the next post!
Happy reading 💙
Romance is by far my favorite genre, because of books like these 🙂 Great list and happy reading!

I read quite a few romances in January as well! I’ve found that it’s my go to genre recently. I’ve been having a great time reading them, so I feel like that’s what I’ll be reading the rest of the year as well.
And I’ve read The Scorpio Races a few years back and I thought it was great! I didn’t go into it expecting much of a romance, so I was just happy with the awesome world-building and writing. At this point that’s why I read Maggie Steifvater’s writing, her books are so unique and lyrical. If the story happens to include a romance, that’s just a bonus to me.

I tend to read romance in between fantasy books to avoid reading slumps, but recently all I want to read is romance and I’m here for it tho! And I agree, The Scorpio Races is such a beautiful and unique story, I really liked it, but my romantic heart can’t help wanting all the romance lol
