I was so excited to read this book because I was in the mood for some mafia romance, that’s why I had big expectations for it. Sadly, it disappointed me. From the synopsis it sounded like something I could have enjoyed, but the book was like two hundred and something pages long. The story happened too fast for my liking therefore the romance and everything felt forced, in my opinion.
The characters were not that awesome since we don’t get to know them in depth. Which is a shame because there were a lot of people mentioned who I would have loved to read more about. And talking about characters, I didn’t like Aria. She was so confusing, in my opinion she changed her mind a lot and it gave me the impression that she wasn’t sure what she really wanted.
Luca was a very predictable character. The alpha who has a soft spot for the girl. I don’t mind this trope, I love it when the bad boys start to have feelings for the girl. It feels so romantic. Anyway, we get to know him as well as Aria because they spend a lot of time together, but there are more to him that I still want to know.
The writing style was easy to read, it was not that confusing and it had me reading nonstop. The only thing I wish was different, is the length of the book, but considering there’s like a second book to Aria and Luca’s love story, then I guess it makes sense, but still. The plot twists were predictable.
Also, the topics about rape, suicide and killing were in the book and because it is a love story in the mafia, the topics were mentioned in a raw way, so if you think this can trigger you in some way, read with precaution. And there are sex scenes, which I think they are not appropriate for young readers.
I decided to give this book 1.5 stars because it wasn’t what I was looking for and the story sometimes annoyed me. However, if you want to start reading mafia books or just try them out to see if they are your cup of tea, then maybe you can give Bound by Honor a try, just be mindful of the trigger warnings I mentioned before.
This is a small review but the book was short and there wasn’t much to say without giving spoilers. Now tell me, do you like reading mafia books?
Until the next post!
Happy reading 💙
