My favorite books of 2020

Hello beautiful people!

Happy new year! 2020 was such a hard year and honestly, I’m so glad we get to start a new year. Even though the problems won’t go away just because 2020 is over, a new beginning gives me a lot of hope for things to get better. Anyway, I hope you had a lovely end of the year, I want to wish you happiness and health for 2021.

Now that I got my little speech out of the way, it’s time for me to tell you about my favorite books of 2020! Choosing a favorite book is never easy but these were books that won my heart and that every time I think about them, I want to reread them because I can’t get enough of them. They are in no particular order.

Brooklynaire by Sarina Bowen

If you love romance, then read this book. I don’t need to give you another reason but if you like hockey, then you’ll enjoy this book even more, however if you don’t like sports romances, don’t worry because even when hockey is the main topic of this book, this is not that sporty, so just do yourself a favor and read it!

The Shades of Magic series by V.E. Schwab

I recently posted my book reviews for book 1 and book 2 of this series on the blog, so check them out if you want to know more about my thoughts on them, but if this series is in this list then it’s obvious it is good. This series was almost perfect, the romance was not that great but I loved it anyway. It has everything, action, adventure, magic, lovable characters, amazing world building. If you like fantasy, then read this series!

We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal

Oh you guys, this book was so good. And the sequel is coming out in January! I just think about this book and I want to reread it because the world was so interesting and I loved these characters a lot and I need the sequel and seriously, this is a great story with some plot twists I didn’t see coming at all. Ugh, I loved it! Give this book a try, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!

A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer

I love retellings, especially Beauty and the Beast ones and since this is a Beauty and the Beast retelling, of course I loved it! Even though this is a retelling and there were some elements that screamed Beauty and the Beast, I liked how different this book felt from other retellings I’ve read before. If you’re a fan of retellings, then you have to read this one!

Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin

I wasn’t sure if this book was a favorite but the more time passed, the more I liked it so in the end, I decided to add it to the list. It has a lot of elements I like in a story, and even when it was predictable, I had a great time reading it. Lou and Reid stole my heart and I just want them to be happy together forever and ever! It has witches, what more do you need to pick this book up!

Luna and the Lie by Mariana Zapata

Ever since I read Mariana Zapata for the very first time in 2019, I will not be surprised to have one of her books in my list of favorites every year. She is so good at writing slow burn romances, like so good it is painful. This book was so damn good and I just can’t wait to pick another of her books and hate her for not giving me what I want but then loving her when she finally does lol. Yes, reading this book will be painful but the waiting will be worth it!

The Warcross series by Marie Lu

I am really mad that no one told me how good this series is. I went into Warcross not knowing much and expecting nothing, by the time I finished the first book, I knew Marie Lu was going to be one of my favorite authors. This series was amazing, I loved every little aspect of it and even when I predicted some plot twists, I still gasped out loud. Seriously, if you haven’t read this series, do it!

Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco

Oh my, this book! This book was perfection in my eyes and if you want to know more, then check out my book review because if I keep typing, we’ll be here all day. I’m going to give you two reasons to read this book, 1) the cover is gorgeous, and 2) because I say so lol.

House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas

This book destroyed me but it is also mended my heart and soul. Hunt and Bryce were everything! I want to reread this book at least twice every month since I first read it because the world building is so interesting, I know I will learn more from it with every reread and I also liked the characters so much I want more of them! This book is thick and slow at times, but it is worth your time so read it. Like right now.

Until the next post!

Happy reading 💙
