Hello beautiful people!
The first month of the year is over. It seems to me like it went by very slowly, but now that I think about it, it also feels like time flew so fast. Whichever the case, here’s my January wrap up. I hope you like it although not much happened in my life (again) and I didn’t read that much but I completed the readathon I participated in.
On January 6 I went back to work which meant no more reading all day all night. That sucks but I am truly grateful to have a job during these trying times. Although waking up early in the mornings is still so hard, I wasn’t made for going to bed early and waking up early. However, due to the current situation, we’ve had a couple of days off at work so even though I don’t like waking up early, I had a few long weekends in which I slept in!
This should come as no surprise since I know everyone makes this goal every year: start exercising. So, I sign up to an online workout program. Now this should come as no surprise either: my motivation only lasted a week lol. In my defense, going to work made it difficult for me to find the perfect time to exercise. I still tried to do something on the days I had off and on weekends.
I started watching Bridgerton on the last week of the month. I loved it. I wasn’t a big fan after episode 1 but as I kept watching it, I was falling more and more in love with it. Seriously, Simon stole my heart but Regé owns my soul, he is so handsome I want him to be the father of my child lol. If you haven’t watched it, I highly recommend it. The show is based on the books written by Julia Quinn, the first book is The Duke and I. I haven’t read the books yet, but I want to read them soon because I want more of the characters!
And now that I’m talking about shows, I also finished watching The Mandalorian. I started this one in November 2020 but I didn’t want to continue with season 2 because I had to wait a year for season 3, but I had to some chores and I wanted to watch something while completing my tasks. I love this show too and that’s coming from someone that hasn’t watched any Star Wars movie and is not interested in them, but The Mandalorian is such a great show with a cute little Jedi! If you haven’t watched this one either, then please do because it is good!
And lastly, I started rewatching a kdrama, The K2, it is so good, I can’t recommend it enough! On another note, I also had to reorganize my bookshelves again, if you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you already know this because I said something about this. I had to put order to my room since I had lots of books on my nightstand and I was running out of space for more books (because let’s be honest, the books will never stop coming).
This life update turned out to be more of a tv shows update. Sorry about that!
In January I participated in the Among Us Readathon. If you don’t know what Among Us is, where have you been? Lol. But seriously, if you don’t know, Among Us is a very fun video game so of course this was a very fun readathon! I will link to their Twitter account in case you’re interested. I decided to be part of the White crewmate team, which means I had to read four books. I read these and two other books I felt in the mood to read.
Make a Scene by Mimi Grace
This was a cute and adorable fake dating adult romance. I liked the characters a lot, they were so interesting and their life stories were too. I really enjoyed this one a lot, it was a great first read of the year! With this one I completed the first prompt in the readathon, to read a standalone or a sequel.
Will You Be Mine? (Falling like a Johnson #2) by Rilzy Adams
I went into this expecting very little but I was disappointed. This was a friends to lovers romance but the love story wasn’t good in my opinion. Hallie didn’t show much love for JT and then suddenly she was like “yes, I love you”. I know this is fictional so none of this is real, but I wanted this to be feel real. Sadly, it didn’t.
When Love Ignites (Falling like a Johnson #4) by Rilzy Adams
Even when I didn’t like the previous book by her, I still wanted to give her other books a try. I am so glad I did because this other book was way better. Jasmine and Alec’s love story was cute; at first everything happened too fast for my liking but as their bond grew stronger, I was more immersed in their story. I wanted to read more of them! This one was read for the prompt of breathtaking cover.
Air Awakens (Air Awakens #1) by Elise Kova
I’m not going to lie, I was interested in this book because of its beautiful cover. Fortunately, I liked the story too! The world building was so interesting, I wanted to know more about it. I liked the characters, even when the romance here was not something I enjoyed that much, I still swooned from time to time. I am definitely continuing with the rest of the series, I just hope I do so this year and not five years from now lol. I read this one to complete the prompt for a book with a map.
Pucked (Pucked #1) by Helena Hunting
And I went back to reading romance. This one is a hockey romance which if you don’t like sports romance, then you might not like this one that much, but it was fun and very smutty! I loved Alex, he was the best thing of the whole novel. I also liked Violet, but she sometimes was too much for me.
The Devil and the Dark Water by Stuart Turton
I had to read this one for the final prompt I had left in the readathon, to read a genre I don’t usually read. I heard that this book was a thriller so I picked it up. I am surprised to say I enjoyed it and the plot twists and the mystery and all that, however Arent stole the show, he is perfect and I love him and he is the reason why I enjoyed the book so much!
Okay, so that’s it for my January wrap up. Not much happened in my personal life, but there were a few of tv shows I enjoyed as well as lots of romance for this first month. I’m looking forward to February!
How many books did you read in January? Did you enjoy them all?
Until the next post!
Happy reading 💙
