This is the last book in the Shades of Magic series. I had so much fun reading this book and trilogy in general. I really can’t recommend it enough to people who likes fantasy, magic and adventures.
Since this is book 3, I won’t tell you what this book is about because spoilers, but book 1 is about three Londons and a type of magicians that can travel between them. One of the two remaining magicians gets himself into serious trouble and with the help of an unexpected ally, he tries to right his wrongs. Honestly I don’t think my summary is that good so make sure to check the synopsis for A Darker Shade of Magic on Goodreads, as well as my book review if you’re interested.
This third book destroyed me! There were so many things at stake and I just wanted everyone to be alive at the end of it all. In here my love for these characters only grew more and more and I want to hug them and keep them in my pocket for protection.
Because this is the final book, everything has to have a closure and questions have to be answered. Things that happened in book 2, A Gathering of Shadows, that had no explanation, were finally understood here. And some other things that were mentioned in book 1, A Darker Shade of Magic, were finally explained here. Although there are still a few questions left, but Victoria Schwab has said that there will be more books in this series, which will take place years after the events of this trilogy, so I’m hoping we get even more answers and explanations.
My two ships in this trilogy finally sailed! It is true Victoria Schwab’s is not that great writing romance, but I liked it here and I was so in love with these two couples that I suffered along with them and when I got to the end of the book, I released the breath I didn’t know I was holding lol. No, but seriously, I liked how the relationships develop into what they are now.
I truly enjoyed this book and I can’t find a bad thing to say about it. Out of the three books, I have to say this is my favorite. In my opinion, it was a nice conclusion to this story although my heart did broke and I almost cried a lot of times lol. I’m still not sure if this is a favorite series of all times, but at least it was a favorite in 2020.
If you haven’t read this series, please do, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!
Until the next post!
Happy reading 💙
