The Among Us readathon | August TBR

Hello everyone!

It’s been months since the last time I did a post talking about the books I’ll be reading in the month, but I’m participating in a readathon in August and I want to talk about it with y’all.

First things first. This readathon is based on the video game called Among Us. It was very popular last year, but if you don’t know what I’m talking about at all, then let me try to explain it for you. Basically, it’s a video game in which you have to complete certain tasks because you work like in a spaceship or something like that, but among the crew there are impostors who kill the crewmates. So your job is to do your tasks while at the same time discover who the impostors are. Or if you are the impostor, you have to pull your best killer and acting skills so no one discovers you.

It is actually a pretty entertaining game. I didn’t play it lol but I watched lots of videos of people playing and they were so much fun! So the readathon revolves around this game. For all the info, check out their Twitter.

This is the second round. I participated in the first round in January and I was a crewmate, however a few rules have been added and changed. Now whatever I choose to be, crewmate or impostor, I won’t be able to change it for the upcoming rounds. With that in mind and taking into consideration I’m a mood reader, I decided to be an impostor since it gives more room to the mood reader in me to be free.

Now, because I have to go back to work on August 2nd, my brain is already stressing about it and I can’t seem to be able to plan too much ahead of time but in this post I will try my best.

With nothing else to add, let’s get to my TBR for August!

Fake a task: read a standalone or sequel.

At the moment I’m writing this post I’m reading The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson. It is the first book in the Remnant Chronicles trilogy, of course this book can’t count for this prompt, but then I’ll be reading the second book which is The Heart of Betrayal. Now it counts.

Vent: Clear asteroids: read a book with rock on the cover.

I still don’t have a book for this one so feel free to leave your suggestions on the comments below!

Blame someone else: read a book with more than one POV.

If I am not mistaken, The Gilded Wolves has multiple POV’s so that’s the book I chose for this prompt.

Process data: read one of the biggest books on my TBR (450+ pages).

For this one I chose The Beauty of Darkness. It is the third book in the Remnant Chronicles trilogy. As you can see I am determined to finish reading that trilogy.

Assemble artifact: read a book with mythology.

Of course my first thought when I read this prompt was Rick Riordan so I chose The Red Pyramid. I don’t know exactly what type of mythology this book is based on, but I’ll discover it when I read this.

Submit scan: read a book with rep that represents me.

I might be stretching it a lot here. I chose Set the Dark on Fire. I’m not sure if this book is set in Mexico or if it’s based on Mexican culture, but I am Mexican so in my mind is like Mexican rep, yes, that represents me. Please tell me if I am an idiot and I’m only making myself look like a fool please and thank you.

Start reactor: have someone else pick a book for me.

Once again I haven’t chosen a book for this prompt but I will make a poll when the time comes on Twitter and Instagram so you can pick my next read. Make sure to follow me there so you don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity! Lol

Chart course: according to your zodiac sign choose a book.

There was a list for each zodiac sign with a prompt for it. My moon sign is Leo and the prompt for it is to read a book with a beautiful cover. I had chosen Certain Dark Things because the new cover is beautiful but I checked and that new edition comes out in September 🤡 So I need to choose another book, but my brain is like stop making me work woman!

Run diagnostics: read a book by my favorite author.

I have lots of favorite authors but for this one I chose Instant Karma by Marissa Meyer.

Water plants: read a book with an illustrated cover.

For this one I chose A Sorcery of Thorns because it has been on my TBR for so long is time I finally read it! And the cover is beautiful.

Prime shields: read a book with transportation on the cover (boat, plane, car, etc).

For this one I chose The Beholder because it has a big ship/boat on the cover. And I remember hearing good things about the story.

Chart course: according to your zodiac sign choose a book.

Yes, I am repeating this prompt and I am choosing the same zodiac sign because my sun sign is Scorpio but I wasn’t vibing with the prompt for it so Leo it is again! Now this time I chose Skyhunter because I love the cover, it’s so pretty!

And that’s it. I generally read 5 books in a month, 10 has been the most. I should have included more romance books here since those are easy and fast to read but what is life without complications and suffering.

I am crossing my fingers I manage to somehow succeed, but I doubt it since I start work again and my reading hours are shorter. And even if I don’t then it’s okay, the main thing is to have fun!

If you are participating in this readathon, tell me in the comments if you are a crewmate or a fellow impostor! And if you are not participating, tell me which book you are looking forward to reading in August.

Until the next post!

Happy reading 💙
