It’s that time of the month when I share with you the books I read in the month. I think I didn’t freak out last month, but OH. MY. GOD. Can you believe we are in September already?! The year is basically over! I am not ready for this year to end, I’m still processing 2020, how is it possible we’re going into 2022!
Anyway, in August I participated in the Among Us readathon. I was an Imposter and I should have read 12 books… I read only 4 from my list lol. I am regretting my decision of being an Imposter, but oh well, what’s done it’s done. But here are the books I read in August.
The Kiss of Deception (The Remnant Chronicles #1) by Mary E. Pearson
I started this book in July and I finished it in August. I read this book years ago but didn’t continue with the series and this time I decided to finish the trilogy. I enjoyed the book a lot because I didn’t remember much about the story so it felt like reading the book for the first time all over again.
The Heart of Betrayal (The Remnant Chronicles #2) by Mary E. Pearson
I was so excited to read the sequel because I enjoyed the previous book a lot, but somewhere along this book I lost interest. Nothing interesting was happening and the connection with the characters was getting lost until I couldn’t take it and I did not finished it, I DNF it at 55% into the book.
Take a Hint, Dani Brown by Talia Hibbert
This is the first book I read for the readathon. I enjoyed this book a lot! It was so sweet and adorable and fast to read. I wish I could find a guy as cute and lovely as Zaf. If you love Adult romance and the fake dating trope, I highly recommend this book.
Instant Karma by Marissa Meyer
This book was amazing! This was a YA summer romance and was so fun and cute! I am so happy I read this in August while the summer is here because due to the pandemic, I am not traveling anywhere, I just go out of my home to go to work, but this book took me on a great journey to the beach and it was so good! This book was part of my TBR for the readathon.
Last Chance Books by Kelsey Rodkey
Sadly this book was a disappointment. I didn’t like the female protagonist at all, she annoyed me so much. I really can’t blame her because this is a YA romance too and I can’t expect the characters to be mature, but Madeline was so childish in my opinion. I just couldn’t stand her no matter how hard I tried to understand her. And just because of her I didn’t enjoy the book, however, I did enjoy the fact that the story revolves around books and the book community and book stores and that part was great. This book was part of my TBR for the readathon.
Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson
When this book came out a few years ago it was so popular and it was so hyped and me being me didn’t read it at the time until now. I did enjoy it a lot, the plot and world building were interesting as well as the characters. However, I was left wanting more from it. I don’t know, it feels like it was missing something and I’m not quite sure what it was. I say it needed more romance but I’m not sure that’s what was missing. I still enjoyed it and I wish there was a second book because the ending was an open one and I need to know for sure what happened next. This book was part of my TBR for the readathon.
And that’s it! I read 5 books and I DNF’d one, which was not great, but I don’t hesitate anymore when I’m not enjoying my time reading a book. Life’s too short to spend it reading a book I’m going to give a 1 star rating anyway. But overall, it was a good reading month and I’m expecting September to be an amazing reading month!
Until the next post!
Happy reading 💙
