It’s been so long since I posted here but I needed to take a break. I’m still not sure how long it will be, but for now I’m going to be posting only my wrap ups. This might change after this post or it might not, who knows, but I’m not leaving the blog completely. And I’m going to take this opportunity to tell you to follow me on Twitter and/or Instagram. Sometimes life gets a bit in the way and I disappear for a bit on both but I’m more active there than here, that’s for sure.
Anyway, I read 8 books in October, which is kind of a lot since the most I was reading was 5. I enjoyed the majority of them with a few exceptions. Nothing can be absolutely perfect. So here are the books I read in the month.
Kingdom of the Wicked (Kingdom of the Wicked #1) by Kerri Maniscalco
I have a review for this one on the blog, so read it if you want to know more about my thoughts on this one. I read this book in 2020 and this year the sequel was released, so I reread it in preparation for Kingdom of the Cursed. I enjoyed it as much as I did the first time but I was more excited reading it this time because I was finally continuing with the story.
Kingdom of the Cursed (Kingdom of the Wicked #2) by Kerri Maniscalco
Like I said this is the sequel of Kingdom of the Wicked and I enjoyed it a lot! I have more questions than answers and I can’t believe I have to wait until next year for the third and final book in this series! I highly recommend these books if you like fantasy and slow burn romance and the enemies to lovers trope. And once again Kerri is being cruel by ending this book in a cliffhanger, but this one hurts! When you read this, you’ll understand why it is painful.
Ravish Her by Jenika Snow
I don’t like disliking books, but I couldn’t help it with this one. I was expecting something and even though the book kind of gave me what I wanted, the book itself is too short so the story happens way too fast and I couldn’t connect to the characters, I was barely getting to know them and the world and it was over. This book is on Kindle Unlimited if you want to check it out there, but be prepared for how short this is.
Vow of Hell by Clara Elroy
I didn’t like this one either, although I enjoyed a bit more than the previous book in this list. I can’t say exactly why I didn’t like this book since it had tropes I enjoy like the hate to love one and arranged marriages, but something here didn’t work for me. I could’t connect with the characters therefore I didn’t care about their romance. However, I still recommend it if you like the tropes I just mentioned. Just because this book was not for me, it doesn’t mean it is not for you. This book is also on Kindle Unlimited.
Gothikana by RuNyx
I discovered this author and her books by accident on Instagram. Someone I follow mentioned her books and I saved the post. A few days later and not knowing what to read I checked my saved posts and decided to go with this one first since it’s a standalone and it sounded spooky, perfect for October. It was. And I enjoyed it a lot! It has mystery, a hunted castle, smut and a forbidden romance between a professor and his student. Just remembering this book I want to read it all over again. This book is on Kindle Unlimited.
The Predator (Dark Verse #1) by RuNyx
I wanted more from this author so I decided to start with this mafia series. This first book was dark and I wasn’t enjoying the romance between the main characters, but I was intrigued by what was happening that I continued with it. This was also kind of slow paced but towards the end it gets so good and it ends in a cliffhanger so I had to read the second book right away. Read the author’s note for the trigger warnings. This series is on Kindle Unlimited.
The Reaper (Dark Verse #2) by RuNyx
I liked this one much more than the previous book. I enjoyed the romance here a lot more and even when it was also slow paced, I was intrigued by everything and I wanted to piece all the secrets together already. I didn’t guess some plot twists until they were almost revealed and still I was shook when I read them. This series is not complete yet, the fourth book is coming out later this year.
Addicted to You (Addicted #1) by Krista & Becca Ritchie
I read this book five years ago and I didn’t enjoy it that much because I read it at the wrong time but I enjoyed it now. I decided to give this series another try because I saw people mention these books on Twitter. I’m so happy I’m enjoying these books now. These books talk about addictions like alcoholism and sex addiction. I recommend you check the authors’s website for the recommended reading order of these series but a better experience of this world.
And that’s it for this wrap up. Overall it was a good reading month and I hope I keep reading this many books for the last two months of the year. I also hope you enjoyed reading my thoughts on these books. In the comments tell me if you have read any of them or if you’re planning on reading one of those.
Until the next post!
Happy reading 💙
