Hello beautiful strangers!
This is a post you won’t see me doing very often since I am a mood reader through and through, but all over the book community, doesn’t matter what platform, there’s this readathon that happens in April in which a lot decide to participate. It is called Magical Readathon hosted by G from Book Roast on YouTube. I could explain what this readathon is about but I think it’s better if you hear all about it from the creator, so here’s the announcement video for this year:
And here’s the link to the video as well. Seriously, aren’t you impressed by the amount of time and effort G puts in for this readathon? I’m always in awe!
Anyway, as it was mentioned in the video, you have to choose a career and based on the prompts that are listed for the O.W.L.’s in said career, you have to choose a book that fits it. And like I said at the beginning of this post, I’m a mood reader so I don’t make monthly TBRs because I never stick to them. In fact, last year I tried participating in a readathon and I failed, I barely read like one book of the five I had chosen.
With that in mind, I was looking through the Career’s Guide for one that had the least amount of prompts to follow and I found it. Seer only requires three prompts for O.W.L.’s! Three doesn’t sound like an intimidating number of books to read in a month. I might even finish reading the three of them before April ends and read other books that my heart and soul desires afterwards.
So for a Seer, the O.W.L.’s consist of Ancient Runes, which is to read a book with heart on the cover or in the title; Astronomy, which is to read the majority of the book when it’s dark outside; and Divination, which is about assigning a number to the books in my TBR and picking a book with a random number generator.
For Ancient Runes, I chose Assassin’s Heart by Sarah Ahiers.
For Astronomy, I haven’t picked a book yet. I want to read Field Notes on Love by Jennifer E. Smith, but I might read it before March ends. If that’s not the case, then I’ll be reading it in April to fulfill this prompt.
And for Divination, I have a lot of books in my TBR list, but I decided to only choose 40. The random number generator said 11 so I’ll be reading Renegades by Marissa Meyer.
I’m really excited for April. Those books have been in my TBR for quite some time and now I’ll stop making excuses for not reading them.
Now tell me, did you know about this readathon? Are you going to participate? If so, have you chosen a career and TBR?
Until the next post!
Happy reading 💙
Yayyyy! I’m so excited to participate again! I played last year and it was so much fun 🙂 A Jennifer E. Smith book is the perfect read for Astronomy, as they usually are fairly quick reads! I haven’t read any of these, but I’ll definitely be checking out Assassin’s Heart – best of luck! ✨
