February was over in the blink of an eye! I just hope the rest of the months don’t happen too fast because damn, at this rate tomorrow I’m going to be posting my December wrap up! Anyway, let’s not think about how fast time seems to go. Instead let’s get on with this wrap up.
I’m not sure if I have said this before, but I love American football! I’m no expert nor I’m always up to date with the latest news about it, but when football season starts I try to watch all the games I can. So in case you don’t even know what I’m talking about, in February was the big final, AKA the SuperBowl. I honestly watch it for the game and not the halftime show, although the performance is fun to watch as well. Anyway, this year’s SuperBowl I watched it with my dad (as always) and we had so much fun watching it all. My mom only joined us for the halftime show lol.
Then, like a week or two after the SuperBowl, I went to the doctor. I am short-sighted so I can’t see very well without glasses or my contact lenses, which I use daily. It’s been like two years since I last went to an appointment, I’m not happy about that since I have to go every year but oh well, what’s done it’s done. So as was expected, my sight is not getting better so I had to get a new prescription for my eyes and although I’m happy because I see way better now, I don’t like it that my eye sight is going downhill every time. I’ll have to start considering surgery at some point in my life.
And finally, I decided to buy a ring light because I’m a shopaholic when I feel anxious or simply kind of blue so I thought having a ring light was going to be awesome for my comeback to bookstagram, however it didn’t work. I plugged it in and everything but it never turned on! I was so sad because I had already pictured me using it for a lot of things. I’ll try buying another one after my disappointment has passed.
Now, let’s get to my reading! Which was not what I expected.
So if you didn’t know, I decided to start having monthly TBRs. Here’s the first post I did about it and I explain in more detail why I made the decision to start doing this. I picked four books to read in February: Legendborn; Red, White & Royal Blue; Dark Shores; and Incendiary. If you follow me on my other social media you might know which books I read from these, but don’t worry, I’m going to spill all the tea in this post.
Legendborn by Tracy Deonn
It kind of breaks my heart to say that I didn’t like this book. I actually DNF’d it at 51% into it. Believe me when I tell you I tried so hard to get invested in the story and characters but I just couldn’t. My conclusion is that this book is simply not for me. It sucks to say this because this book is so loved in the book community but I just can’t love it, not even like it! But if you’re considering reading it, I highly suggest you do and give it a try, it might not have been for me, but it might be for you.
The Hunter by L.J. Shen
After Legendborn I was feeling like in a reading slump so I went for something easy, light and fast to read and romance tends to give me exactly that so I picked this book. It was exactly what I wanted however the love story between Hunter and Sailor is not a favorite but it helped me with my reading slump.
Assassin’s Apprentice by Robin Hobb
I didn’t know what I was in the mood for after The Hunter so I decided to pick this one up. Lately I had been seeing Robin Hobb in my feed a lot and I had heard great things about her series, The Realm of the Elderlings so I was like let’s start with it. Oh my god, I loved this first book. It is character-driven so the story takes time to pick up but I am so in love with these characters that I seriously don’t care if there is no plot at all, I can read about Fitz just eating and I’ll be like amazing, perfect, unique, never done before. If you like fantasy and character driven books, this one is just perfect.
Those were all the books I read and as you can see, I failed to read more books from my TBR, but it’s okay. I knew this was going to happen and as long as I keep reading, I don’t care if I don’t follow my own reading plans. I can’t wait to see how well or how bad I’ll do for March.
How many books did you read in February? Any new favorite book?
Until the next post!
Happy reading 💙
